Powering Performance – Modernizing PSM/RMP for True Operational Resilience
Adrienne Young
Despite the fact that PSM has been around for over 30 years and RMP for almost as long, we continue to experience catastrophic losses related to the storage, handling, and processing of highly hazardous chemicals and regulated substances. One underlying root cause for this may be due to how we define our performance objectives regarding these two regulations.
Are we settling for compliance or are we striving for operational resilience? This session will define the concept of operational resilience as it relates to process safety and risk management. It will also provide insights on strategies that you can adopt to leverage your greatest assets (people, processes, and practices) to go beyond compliance with regulations and achieve operational resilience.
These concepts have been used by large global companies to successfully manage process safety risks at their facilities, and, with some tweaking, they can be used by your organization as well. Your ability to anticipate and respond to operational upsets will make the difference between surviving and thriving in your industry.
