ExxonMobil’s Enhancing Process Safety includes the application of human performance principles on defined Higher Consequence risk scenarios. It employs a toolkit named Critical Task Execution and a work process called Safety Critical Task Analysis (SCTA). SCTA is designed to help front line Operations and Maintenance workers in critical tasks where the consequences of human error have the potential to be severe. SCTA focuses on identifying error prone situations in critical tasks, and then recommending improvements to make the task easier to “get it right” each time it is performed.
