In an industry where safety is paramount, standardization in drug testing and background protocols across refineries not only save costs but also significantly improve safety by identifying possible risks. This presentation will discuss how the NASAP and NABSC program were developed by a committee of owners who collaborated through the Houston Business Roundtable (now called Industry Business Roundtable (IBR). We will discuss how the reason for implementing these programs was to find a way to reduce drug testing and background searches and to have a unified approach to simplify the testing process for contractors working across multiple refineries.
