President’s Message: Register Now for the EHS Seminar & Trade Show
We are in the thick of the Texas legislative session, advocating for policies that support our industry’s growth, innovation, and commitment to safety. To help you stay informed, we provide our Capitol Weekly update every Friday, keeping you up to date on key legislative developments impacting our industry. But as we push forward in Austin, summer is just around the corner—and our time to highlight the work our industry does every day to keep our industry safe and sustainable. The 37th Annual Texas-Louisiana Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Seminar & Industry Trade Show, taking place June 2nd-5th, 2025, at the Galveston Island Convention Center, is a chance for us to come together and engage with environment, health, and safety best practices, innovations, and advancements in in our industry.
This year marks the first time we will hold the EHS Seminar at the Galveston Island Convention Center. This new venue provides a great setting to connect, learn, and engage in meaningful discussions about the future of workplace safety and environmental responsibility.
The EHS Seminar brings together professionals across the chemical industry to exchange knowledge and improve safety and compliance. Whether you’re an operator, engineer, site manager, or executive, this event offers valuable insights that can help strengthen workplace safety culture and environmental performance.
This year’s keynote speakers include:
- Kim Haas, ExxonMobil (Monday): A respected leader in safety and operational excellence and a dedicated TCC Board Member, Kim will share her experience and insight into how strong leadership fosters a culture of safety.
- Allan Kehler, Mental Health Advocate (Wednesday): Sponsored by BASF Freeport, Allan will discuss the importance of mental health in the workplace and how companies can create a supportive environment where employees feel valued and engaged.
The EHS Seminar also includes a variety of educational tracks and sessions designed to address the most pressing challenges in our industry. This year’s tracks include:
- Leadership, sponsored by HASC, which focuses on building strong safety leadership and effective management strategies.
- The Future of Process Safety, sponsored by LyondellBasell, which explores the latest advancements and best practices in process safety.
- Sustainability, which addresses environmental responsibility and sustainable practices in the industry.
- The Next-Gen Safety: Beyond the Basics, which highlights innovative safety technologies and modern approaches to workplace safety.
Attendees can choose from sessions across four days, earning continuing education credits and engaging in discussions with industry experts.
The Industry Tradeshow provides another valuable opportunity to connect with industry leaders and explore the latest safety innovations, regulatory solutions, and technology advancements. With over 120 exhibitors, companies will have the chance to showcase products and services designed to improve workplace safety and efficiency. Companies interested in exhibiting should secure their booth by March 31, 2025 to take advantage of discounted pricing.
Registration is now open, and I encourage you to sign up early at ehs-seminar.com before April 30th to take advantage of early bird pricing. If you plan to send employees or contractors, single-day vouchers are available, providing flexibility for those who cannot attend the full event.
This event would not be possible without the EHS Seminar Committee, led by Chair Richard Bass of Kuraray and Vice Chair Cydney Schwarzlose of BGE, along with the many volunteers who dedicate their time to making this seminar a success. Their commitment ensures that attendees receive high-quality educational content and networking opportunities.
We are also grateful to our generous sponsors whose support helps make this event possible:

And immediately after the EHS Seminar, join us for the TCC-TCA Industry Awards Banquet, held on Thursday, June 5th. The Industry Awards Banquet will recognize facilities and professionals who have demonstrated outstanding safety and leadership for our industry and in our communities. This year, we are introducing new awards to highlight excellence in contractor safety and individual leadership in industrial hygiene and process safety.
Awards applications are now open, and I encourage you to submit nominations before March 31st. This is an opportunity to recognize the individuals and companies making a real impact in workplace safety and leadership.
I hope you will join us for both of these important events. The EHS Seminar & Industry Trade Show and our Industry Awards Banquet are an opportunity for us to recognize excellence in our industry, learn from one another, share best practices, and strengthen our collective commitment to safety and sustainability. I look forward to seeing you in Galveston this June!
